Owners and operators of facilities that mix incompatible wastes or incompatible wastes and other materials must comply with 40 CFR 264.17(b)/265.17(b) to prevent reactions. Those subject to these regulations are required to document the precautions they take to comply. Acceptable documentation includes:
- References to published scientific or engineering literature,
- Data from trial tests,
- Waste analyses, or
- The results of the treatment of similar wastes by similar treatment processes under similar operating conditions.
