Employers may use signs, placards, process sheets, batch tickets or other such written material in place of trying to attach a label to individual stationary process containers or areas, where it would be lost and difficult to read.
The alternative material must identify which container it refers to, include the labeling information requirements from 29 CFR 1910.1200(f) and be available in the work area to employees at all times. Additionally, alternative labeling methods must be covered in employee training sessions.
