Ohio Revised Code 4303.22: An H permit is required to transport alcohol already located within Ohio to other places for use within Ohio, or to bring alcohol made outside of Ohio into Ohio for use, sale, and/or distribution within Ohio.
Ohio Revised Code 4303.27: An H permit is not needed for permittees who have been issued a class A, B, C, or D permit and whose employees will make deliveries of the beer, wine, and/or mixed beverage products that were lawfully purchased by a consumer.
The fee for the H permit is $300. It renews October 1st of each year. This permit must be renewed online, so it is important to save log-in information for future use.
No special bonds are needed to transport alcoholic beverages out of, through, or within Ohio.
Holders of H permits are required to submit a monthly report, in their own format, via email. Reports can be sent to spermit.liquor@com.ohio.gov.
Reports are to include the name of the person preparing and submitting the report, the time period covered in the report, the name and business address of each consignor of the beer or intoxicating liquor, the name and address of each consignee of the beer or intoxicating liquor, the weight of each delivery of beer or intoxicating liquor to each consignee, the unique tracking number assigned for each delivery of beer or intoxicating liquor to each consignee, and the date of delivery.
Ohio Revised Code 4303.22: A liability insurance certificate/policy for not less than $1,000 nor more than $5,000 for property damage, and for not less than $5,000 nor more than $50,000 for injury or death is required.
