Virginia has adopted 390.15 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), in effect as of October 1, 2025. Section 390.15 includes accident recordkeeping requirements.
Section 390.15 applies to vehicles over 26,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating, or gross vehicle weight or gross combination weight, whichever is greater, and vehicles of any size used to transport hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placarding.

Obtaining an accident report
| Procedure | “Information Request” (Form CRD-93) may be used to obtain an accident report. The form may be accessed via the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) website: https://roar-assets-auto.rbl.ms/documents/16910/crd93.pdf |
| Fee | $8.00 for a copy of an accident report |
