New Hampshire has adopted 390.15 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs). Section 390.15 includes accident recordkeeping requirements.
Section 390.15 applies to any self-propelled or towed motor vehicle used on a highway in intrastate and interstate commerce when the vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 10,001 pounds or more, or is of any size transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.
Accident reporting - Motor carrier
| Notification | Any motor vehicle operator or owner involved in an accident must report in writing to the Director of the Division of Motor Vehicles if the accident resulted in:- Death,
- Injury, or
- Property damage over $1,000.

Obtaining an accident report
| Procedure | A copy of an official accident report may be obtained by completing a “Release of Motor Vehicle Records” form (DSMV 505). The form may be accessed via the Department of Safety website: www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/dmv/forms/index.htm. |
