Maine has adopted 390.15 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), as amended. Section 390.15 includes accident recordkeeping requirements.
Section 390.15 applies to a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 10,001 pounds or more, or a vehicle transporting hazardous materials which require placarding.

Obtaining an accident report
| Procedure | A copy of an official accident report may be obtained by sending an online or a written request along with the required fee to the Traffic Division, Maine State Police. The request should include the operator’s name and date of birth, the date and location of the accident, and any other available information. An online request may be made via the Maine State Police website: https://www1.maine.gov/online/mcrs. |
