Indiana has adopted 390.15 of the Federal Motor Safety Regulations (FMCSRs). Section 390.15 includes accident recordkeeping requirements.
Section 390.15 applies to for-hire carriers operating motor vehicles exclusively in intrastate commerce that have a gross vehicle weight, gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight, or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more.
Section 390.15 applies to private carriers operating motor vehicles exclusively in intrastate commerce that have a gross vehicle weight, gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight, or gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more.
Section 390.15 applies to any size vehicle (for-hire or private) transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.
