Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
The federal minimum wage provisions are contained in the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Many states also have minimum wage laws. In cases where an employee is subject to both the state and federal minimum wage laws, the employee is entitled to the higher of the two minimum wages.
Effective September 30, 2026, the Florida minimum wage is $15.00 per hour. The state's minimum wage for tipped employees is $11.98 per hour.
Effective September 30, 2025, the Florida minimum wage is $14.00 per hour. The state's minimum wage for tipped employees is $10.95 per hour.
Effective September 30, 2024, the Florida minimum wage is $13.00 per hour. The state's minimum wage for tipped employees is $9.98 per hour.
Effective September 30, 2023, the Florida minimum wage is $12.00 per hour. The state's minimum wage for tipped employees is $8.98 per hour.
Effective September 30, 2022, the Florida minimum wage is $11.00 per hour. The state’s minimum wage for tipped employees is $7.98 per hour.
Each employer who pays employees the Florida minimum wage must prominently display a minimum wage poster in a conspicuous and accessible place in each establishment where employees are employed. The poster must be at least 8.5 inches by 11 inches and in a format easily seen by employees.
