Answer: No. The Hazardous Materials Regulations, specifically 172.516(c)(5), require the wording or ID number displayed on a placard be displayed horizontally reading left to right. You would need to find a way to apply the placard on the rear of the vehicle so that it can be mounted in a diamond shape with the words or ID numbers displayed horizontally reading from left to right. This may require you to get a placard mounting bracket so the placard can be mounted properly.
