Determining if an MSD is job-related

Question: Would the following scenarios help the employer determine if a musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) is job-related?

Scenario 1: Barbara believes her carpal tunnel is caused by her work as an accountant. With Barbara’s permission, the employer takes a careful look at the history of her case and illness.

Scenario 2: Josh calls in to report that he hurt his back at work yesterday. He doesn’t think it’s necessary to have a medical examination. The employer agrees.
