Emergency Response Guidebook

This ERG information is not part of the §172.101 Hazmat Table and is provided for your convenience.

For entries in the Hazardous Materials Table the three-digit ERG guide page number and other information, if applicable, assigned to the name of the material by the ERG is provided.

The letter “P” following some guide numbers indicates that the material may undergo violent polymerization if subjected to heat or contamination.

For some entries there is a link to the Table of Initial Isolation and Protective Action Distances. This is provided when entries are highlighted in the ERG indicating that the Table of Initial Isolation and Protective Action Distances (the green pages of the ERG) should be consulted. These entries are either TIH (Toxic Inhalation Hazard) material, or a chemical warfare agent, or a Dangerous Water Reactive Material (produces toxic gas upon contact with water).
