A “recordable” is an incident that involved loss of consciousness, days away from work, restricted work, job transfer(s), or medical treatment beyond first aid. These incidents must be documented and maintained at the worksite for at least five years. Conversely, a “reportable” is a more severe incident resulting in a worker fatality, amputation, loss of an eye, or hospitalization for over 24 hours. These incidents must be reported to OSHA within a specified amount of time.
