Connecticut follows federal OSHA regulations for overhead and gantry cranes. The Connecticut state OSHA plan adopts the federal OSHA requirements and incorporates them by reference.
Connecticut sets forth the rules governing the operators of cranes and hoisting equipment in Conn. Gen. Stat. Chapter 539, §§ 29-221 – 225. However, § 29-221a provides that the operators of overhead and gantry cranes when used for non-construction-related work are not covered by the Connecticut laws governing cranes and hoisting equipment.
